Subject: Area IX James Buchanan
Registrations are very light right now. if we don't get more we may be forced to cancel the first Qualifier. We will let everyone know by wednesday, but as it looks right now we may have to cancel. If you are thinking about going to James Buchanan, not is the time to register. Go online and do it now! if we don't meet our numbers we will have to move you to another qualifier.

What happens if they cancel and move kids? Will they still only take the top two?

Keep the registrations coming if they keep up at this rate we should not have an issue.

It would be a shame to cancel a qualifier like this, due to the fact that a host school or club might not make a bunch of money (fund raiser), because numbers are low. I think if you take on a responsability like hosting a state qualifier profitable or not, you should tough it out and do the right thing. Don't bail if your scared. That does look good on your part.

Wrestler1000, your observation could not be any more wrong. Hosting this qualifier has NEVER been about a fundraiser for our boosters. Feel free to inquire with any of our booster members or members of our wrestling community that have been part of this over the years. We have hosted this event in an attempt to promote wrestling in the area, PERIOD!
Now, if you want to talk about "money", let's consider those who are going to travel a distance to be part of this qualifier and will quite possibly only have one match if that. Consider the expenses those people will have...for what??? You, I am guessing, will only be traveling from Chambersburg which is no big deal. However, you would likely be the first to come on here and complain about spending half a day of your life and your son did not even get a match.
The last thing we want to do is cancel an event such as this, but is it really fair for families to travel for nothing?
So, Wrestler1000, you are entitled to your opinion, but at least try to make your comment based on fact and not emotion.

centpafan2, I believe that most people that are registered would love to advance to the next level regardless of how many are in their bracket at this qualifier. This is even more true this year since only the top two are advancing. If you are trying to promote the sport then maybe with the light numbers someone that may not have made it if it was a full bracket will now get a chance to advance. So, I would agree that to cancel this qualifier would be unfair to those already registered. The registered wrestlers registerd for this qualifier for a reason, most of them probably have other scheduled events and would be unable to attend another qualifier. If there is no one in a particular bracket except for one person, they will walk in and get their medal and advance to CD.

Im not tring to attack you or boosters or anyone else in any way personally. I just think that it should go on regardless of numbers. I am from a very good group of people like yourselfs that this is the only qualifier we can attend because we are have already made plans for other events around coming to yours.
